Immigration Volunteers

CNY has welcomed over 400 emergency arrivals from Afghanistan since July of 2021, and more evacuees are expected to arrive in the coming weeks. These community members were evacuated from Afghanistan as the Taliban took control of their homeland this past summer. Hiscock Legal Aid Society and Volunteer Lawyers Project of CNY, in partnership with Catholic Charities/Northside CYO and Interfaith Works, are putting together a taskforce of pro bono attorneys or DOJ accredited representatives to volunteer and help with the asylum filing deadlines that are soon approaching. We will partner to offer training and support to volunteers willing to help. NO PRIOR IMMIGRATION LAW EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. WE WILL TRAIN AND SUPPORT YOU.
