Who We Serve

Providing access to justice through engaging the legal community in volunteer service to those in need.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project of CNY, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit legal aid organization that provides free legal information, assistance, and representation in civil legal matters to low-income people in Central New York. Our services are provided by staff and volunteer attorneys with the help of paralegals and law students.

Services throughout Central New York include legal issues related to housing, family, elder, LGBT* rights, immigration, debt, and economic opportunity. 

VLPCNY's LGBT* Rights Program serves the LGBT* community throughout Upstate New York who cannot obtain other legal help, with a focus on the following counties: Onondaga, Madison, Cayuga, Oswego, Oneida, Herkimer, Otsego, Delaware, Cortland, Chenango, Tompkins, Chemung, Tioga and Broome. 

VLPCNY's Immigration Program services immigrants throughout Central and the North Country, with a focus on the following counties: 

Central New York: Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga and Oswego Counties.
North Country: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Hamilton, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties.
